Got any Yamato, Bandai or Toynami figures?
I am interested in the new Soul of Chokin Veritechs by Bandai. Anybody have one they can do a quick review on? Any news on the movie?

Thread Hijack:
I want the Soul of China, or whatever you said, but Big O. I loves me some Big O! anyway, yeah. So, ok. I loved robotech when i was a kid. But i want to see the series from the beginning, in order, and not chopped up for American TV. Where do i go, what do i do? The 90 different box sets confuse me. ohhhh... my wife picked out a snuff film she wants to watch. Night everyone. |

Live action robotech movie with Toby Maguire Producing it.
Scifi.com: Spidey's Maguire Dons Robotech Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire will produce and may star in a film based on the classic SF anime Robotech, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Warner Brothers Pictures picked up the rights to Robotech, which features giant robots known as mechas. Maguire is producing through his Maguire Entertainment banner and is eyeing the lead role in what the studio plans as an SF franchise a la Paramount's hit Transformers. Drew Crevello also is producing through his Supercool Hollywood BigTime Productions. Craig Zahler has been tapped to write the screenplay. Robotech was a cartoon series during the 1980s from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Productions. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series. Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions. The first invasion concerns a battle with a race of giant warriors who seek to retrieve their flagship's energy source, known as "protoculture," and the planet's survival ends up in the hands of two young pilots.

They should tap me to write the screenplay. I can't be any worse than Craig "i have no credits" Zahler.

Pratt, I only know what my inner child remembers from 25yrs ago. What I have seen of the original series since left me disgusted. Protoculture? 50ft human aliens? Not for me. I do own and enjoy The Shadow Chronicles and hope for a sequel soon.

See, that is what i remember too. 50ft effin people. WTF? I just wanted to know if i had missed out on something incredibly cool. Starfighter likes anything that is animated so i figured he might know too, but i'm not sure if robotech is too low brow for him.

Surprisingly, Starblazers holds up well. Crappy animation, but it's almost 30yrs old. Plot and dialog are still suitable for adults.

I don't remember that one. Probably right before my time. I bought the American voltron on dvd, what a goddamn let down. Best to leave things as fond memories from childhood. I want to see if Go-lion is any better.
